Sofa wrapped in protective stretch film for moving

How to Pack Furniture Safely for a Move

Furniture is damaged in moves in three predictable ways: unwrapped surfaces rubbing in transit, pieces carried by their weakest points, and items loaded where weight can shift onto them. All three are preventable.

Wrap Before Anything Moves

Every surface that can touch another surface should be wrapped – tabletops, wardrobe doors, sofa arms. Drawers and doors are secured shut, and glass or mirror elements get extra padding and are marked clearly for the loading team.

Dismantle What Travels Better In Pieces

Beds, large wardrobes and dining tables are usually safer dismantled. Keep fittings bagged and labelled with the piece they belong to – this is the detail that decides whether reassembly takes ten minutes or an hour. Our dismantling and reassembly service exists for exactly this reason.

Load In The Right Order

Heavy, sturdy pieces form the base and the walls of the load. Wrapped furniture is strapped so it cannot shift, and fragile items travel last-on, in the most protected positions. Read more about our professional packing services if you would rather hand the whole job over.
